Since 2003, over $30,000 has been distributed to local students. This amount awarded includes the six scholarships awards that are distributed annually by Southeast Texas Hispanic Cultural and Education Center, Inc. (SETHCEC).

Queen candidates for Miss Mercado Day Festival must be atleast a senior in high school (12^th grade) to at least 21 years of age.

SETHCEC awards the following scholarships to the Queen candidates:
   •  $1,000 – Miss Mercado Day Festival winner
   •  $750 – First Runner Up
   •  $500 – Second Runner Up
   •  $250 – Third Runner Up
   •  $100 – Miss Photogenic
   •  $100 – Miss Congeniality

Other age groups are encouraged to participate. Entry forms are made available below.

The determination of winners of these funds is based on school and community involvement, as well as poise, beauty, and maturity. All candidates are encouraged to participate in festivities leading up to the festival and all functions following the pageant as instructed to do so.
